The following are the 20 categories for Asia Boating Awards 2013:

  1. Best Asian Yacht Builder (30m and up)

    This award goes to the builder whose headquarters and production are based in Asia (incl. China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam) whose yacht-building has demonstrated consistent, outstanding quality over the past year, and that has a proven ability to expand in the market. Their build quality in the size range of 30m and up has been exceptional.

  2. Best Asian Yacht Builder (15m to 30m)

    This award goes to the builder whose headquarters and production are based in Asia (incl. China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam) whose yacht-building has demonstrated consistent, outstanding quality over the past year, and that has a proven ability to expand in the market. Their build quality in the size range of 15m to 30m has been exceptional.

  3. Best Asian Built Yacht

    This award goes to the builder of a yacht in the previous year deemed to be the best-built yacht from an Asian yard. This category is open to both motor and sail yachts of any size, be it production (if the series was launched in the year 2011-2012) or one-off.

  4. Best Custom Built Yacht

    This award goes to the completely one-off, one-of-a-kind yacht, launched in the past year, that displays both technical excellence and design innovation, as well as outstanding build quality. Winners can be sailing yachts, motoryachts or motorsailors.

  5. Best Semi Custom Built Yacht (30m and up)

    This award goes to the best individual yacht that is part of a semi-custom line, in which the hull and much of the basic engineering remains the same, but extensive (or complete) modifications can be made topsides and in much of the layout and interior. Winners may be motor or sailing yachts, and should have been launched in the past year.

  6. Best Production Motor Yacht (24m to 40m)

    This award goes to the best yacht of the past year from any production brand worldwide in the size range indicated. The winning boat should demonstrate excellent design and outstanding capabilities with regard to her intended purpose. The boat should also have a record of consistent build quality since launch in the past year.

  7. Best Production Motor Yacht (15m to 24m)

    This award goes to the best yacht of the past year from any production brand worldwide in the size range of 15m to 24m. The winning boat should demonstrate excellent design and outstanding capabilities with regard to her intended purpose. The boat should also have a record of consistent build quality since launch in the past year.

  8. Best Production Motor Yacht (up to 15m)

    This award goes to the best yacht of the past year from any brand worldwide up to 15m. The winning boat should demonstrate excellent design and outstanding capabilities. The boat should also have a record of consistent build quality since launch in the past year.

  9. Best Production Sailing Yacht (15m to 30m)

    The award for Best Sailing Yacht recognises outstanding design, comfort, ease-of-handling and performance in a production sailing yacht, either for racing or cruising purposes.

  10. Best Production Sailing Yacht (up to 15m)

    The award for Best Sailing Yacht recognises outstanding design, comfort, ease-of-handling and performance in a yacht up to 15m, either for racing or cruising purposes.

  11. Asian Marina of the Year

    This award recognises Asian-based marinas, either new to the scene or already existing, that have demonstrated a high standard of technical excellence and service for boat owners. Winners may include new marinas of a high standard, marinas that have substantially improved the quality of their facilities and services, or for marinas that have displayed a very high standard consistently.

  12. Asian Yacht Club of the Year

    This award recognises the Asia-based Yacht Club that has shown high levels of organisational ability, either with regattas, rallies and/or membership-based events. Winners may also be recognised for consistent efforts to promote yachting, and to help develop the yachting industry as a whole.

  13. Asian Regatta of the Year

    This award recognises the extraordinary efforts of the organisers of Asia’s best regatta this past year, in terms of organisation, promotion, course quality, entry size, competitiveness and social aspects.

  14. Asia-based Charter Yacht of the Year

    This award goes to the individual charter yacht, based in Asia, that has demonstrated consistently high levels of service, while offering guests unique views of Asian waters.

  15. Personality of the Year

    This award recognises the Asia-based individual who has done outstanding work in terms of promoting Asia as a boating destination, developed new boating talent in the region, has enhanced Asia’s boating facilities, or has played a very positive role in the development of Asia’s boating community.

  16. Print Ad of the Year

    This award recognises the boat brand which has put forward the best quality print ad in the past year. Ads should be considered for their creativity and effectiveness, and for their impact in presenting the feeling and ideas associated with boating and their brand.

  17. Best Yacht Design of the Year

    This award recognises the best of yacht design, either for a production boat model, or for a fully customised boat. Originality, effectiveness, functionality and form in both layout and look are the basis for this award.

  18. Best Yacht Designer in Asia of the Year

    This award recognises the leading naval architect/yacht designer who has had the biggest impact over the past year on Asia-built yachts, of any size or type.

  19. Best Asia-based Charter Company

    This award goes to the company which has provided consistent, high quality service over the past year. Companies may also be recognised for having introduced high quality chartering services to new cruising areas of Asia, and for promoting Asian boating destinations.

  20. Best Brand Presence in Asia

    This award goes to the boat brand that has done the most to build its brand in Asia, via sponsorship of events, advertising and placement. Marketing should exhibit creativity and effectiveness, and campaigns should be recognised for their potential to develop growth and improve brand recognition.
