Rock-Steady Cruising: Vripack "Rock"
Combining stylish rugged good looks, plenty of on-board space and explorer range, Vripack’s one-off "Rock" is quite a feat
When the Turkish owner of a stone quarrying business, Ali Sayakci, set out to build himself a new yacht, his primary concern was how to ensure that she would be both sturdy and rugged, yet at the same time ooze sex appeal. He turned to Vripack, the Netherlands-based team of naval architects who had already designed an extensive portfolio of similarly sized explorer yachts.
Robin de Vries, a member of the design team, offered both form and function in what Sayakci wanted from a custom-build, from good engineering, high performance and sea-going capability, coupled with outstanding design flair. Rock’s foundation stone is her Fast Displacement Hull shape and her high, straight bow cuts through rough seas and yet her low aft section allows a close connection with the water for those on board.
