The TÛRANOR PlanetSolar arrived in Hong Kong 15 August after six days of very difficult navigation due to monsoons and tropical storms in the South China Sea. This marked the first crossing of the South China Sea by a solar boat. Erwann Le Rouzic, the PlanetSolar Captain, who was in constant contact with the PlanetSolar Land Team in Yverdon, Switzerland and the support team of Météo-France in Toulouse, France, applauded the success of this complex navigation. Raphael Domjan, founder and initiator of the PlanetSolar project, was suitably impressed.

PlanetSolar left Subic Bay in the Philippines on 8 August, covering more than 600 miles in extremely trying conditions, with little sunshine and heavy rainfall in the early days. This made it challenging to navigate the largest solar boat in the world.

The whole PlanetSolar Team, in collaboration with  "Presence Switzerland," will now participate in various important events in Hong Kong. The PlanetSolar village, which was inaugurated in September of 2009 in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, will be on site allowing the public to share the experience of "PlanetSolar."
