141-metre superyacht launched in UAE

ADMShipyards, members of Privinvest, has at long last launched their first yacht, and what an entrance it is to the superyacht scene. The 141-metre yacht (the sixth largest privately owned yacht in the world) features dramatic styling, courtesy of the French firm Pierrejean Design of Paris. At her launch in Abu Dhabi, the yacht was christened M/Y Yas. Interior design, which the superyacht world will want to see, was also handled by Pierrjean, so you can bet it’s as striking as the exterior. M/Y Yas can accommodate up to 60 guests, according to a statement released by the company.
The yacht was a massive rebuild, with a Dutch-built frigate for the UAE Navy being stripped down to bare steel and rebuilt from the hull up as a super-luxurious vessel. With new diesel engines and variable pitch propellers, the builders claim that Yas can reach top speeds of 26 knots and has a cruising speed of 20 knots. The yacht has transoceanic range, even at the relatively high speeds she can reach.
Thanks to her former service as a Naval vessel, the Yas has a relatively narrow beam. The superstructure is in composites and according to ADMShipyards, it is the largest single piece of fiberglass of its kind ever fabricated. The stern area includes a large swim platform, as well as a outdoor pool/spa. The garage for toys features a carbon-fibre door that doubles as a swim platform. A complete set of communications equipment has been added, including an extensive A/V system.
Yas is built under Classification by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and she is the first yacht ever built to meet requirements of the new UAE Large Yacht Code created for private vessels.
