J-Craft launches Year of the Dragon Torpedo
Published: Tuesday, 17 January 2012
J-Craft, Swedish builder of a very exclusive yacht called the Torpedo (they only have one model in build at a time) and purveyor to the King of Sweden, has introduced a style concept to mark the upcoming Year of the Dragon. The J-Craft Torpedo features classic styling and 50-knot performance in a package so beautifully built that they wind up as tenders on the world's biggest superyachts, and are seen cruising about the Riviera.
The hull is finished in Grand Piano Black, with complementary Santos Palisander wood veneer. This is set against the Burgundy and Cream leather upholstery, with polished wood and stainless steel finishes. A Nardi steering wheel is finsihed in white Bakelite.
Additional elements include hand-embroidered dragons to the seat backs, an inlaid dragon to the dash-mounted humidor and a Water Dragon motif in the topsides.
The Year of the Dragon Torpedo is a limited edition, with J-Craft allowing only five to be built. It comes equipped with a picnic hamper, entertainment system and hydraulic package. The largest of the Volvo IPS drives that can be fitted yield a top speed of nearly 50 knots. A full-page report on the J-Craft Torpedo is available in the January-February 2012 edition of Asia-Pacific Boating magazine. J-Craft has indicated that they wish to expand in Asia and are currently seeking dealerships.
