Astondoa unveiled plans for the innovative and versatile Top Deck 63, designed by Luiz de Basto, at the Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach in February. It is basically a day boat with big yacht amenities.
This new concept is designed for short cruises and weekends, offering the accommodations of a regular cruiser boat with the best of what an open boat can offer. The main deck is open; there are no walls or an enclosed main saloon. The exterior bulwarks fold down and open up the deck for full contact with nature and offer 25 square metres of extra deck space.

Basic features include a spacious garage, large entertainment area, a large Jacuzzi, a beach club and a comfortable retreat from the sun - all on an easy-to-maneuver and go-anywhere boat.
The designer wanted to create something innovative and fun, yet still aesthetically pleasing. He wanted it to be like a private island that you could take anywhere. Once you get to your destination you open up the boat to enjoy nature and the surrounding water.
Vectorworks, a Florida-based naval architecture and engineering firm well versed in advanced composites, was consulted on the build.
Astondoa builds vessels from 40 to well over 120 feet and is headquartered in Santa Pola, It handles everything in house, from mold construction to interior furnishings. The company owns 754,000 square feet of manufacturing space including a 150,000-square-foot furniture factory in Almansa. The shipyard will start work on the first Top Deck 63 soon and it is expected to debut at the Cannes boat show this September.
With unfolding platforms and bulwarks, the boat offers a recreation surface of some 100 square meters. Its small draft (one metre) and IPS engines make it is easy to maneuver and it can cruise just about anywhere. The main deck is left fully open. Unfolding side platforms, a retractable windshield, sliding moon roof and automatic bimini extending over the Jacuzzi transform the space as needed. Finished with an anti-skid surface, it is easy to maintain. There are two large cabins, one with a queen-size bed, the other with twin beds and a Pullman. A comfortable entertainment lounge, equipped with a panoramic bar, large-screen TV and game console occupy the forward half of the lower deck. The boat is as suitable for day activities as it is for an overnight stay, and is ideal for a weekend away from home.

With an overall length of 19.12 metres and a beam of 5.09 metres, the hull is constructed in fiberglass. The two Volvo IP 900 D11 engines produce 900 horsepower each at 2,300 rpm and are fed from a 650-gallon tank.
