CRN, the megayacht brand of the Ferretti Group, staged a press conference in Hong Kong on March 27 at the Four Seasons Hotel to announce some new models and the brand’s intentions to build a market for its line of superyachts in the Asia Pacific. Ferretti Group have recently opened its first-ever flagship office in Hong Kong, and the company now intends to make Hong Kong its Asian hub. “We have great expectations for this market,” said Lamberto Tacoli, CRN’s CEO and a member of the Ferretti Group strategic council.
While stressing the Made-in-Italy credentials of CRN superyachts, which typically run from 40 metres up to 60+ metres, with a new flagship of 80 metres recently launched, Tacoli noted that it was imperative for CRN to take its brand of Italian super-luxury to the rest of the world. Currently, CRN’s customers are largely in Europe, with 19 yachts there and just three yachts sold to the Americas and one in Asia.
Luca Boldrini, sales director for CRN, added that CRN was rebuilding its product range, with a new focus on fully custom superyachts. The firm is currently building a new 55-metre yacht with Nuvolari Lenard design. The yacht is a clear departure from CRN's previous yachts, and its launch in 2014 will surely be stunning. Boldrini confirmed that the company was now working decisively on building up its credentials in both fully custom and semi-custom lines.
In addition, CRN announced a new 40-metre design that fits into a semi-custom series, coming in at 360 gross tonnage and featuring “Apple-style” exterior design. Additionally, the yard plans to develop this new entry-level superyacht with loose furniture arrangements to allow for more customising by clients or second-hand buyers. The 40-metre design, which CRN has designed as a way for clients in emerging markets to get started in the superyacht lifestyle, is ready to begin construction, with several layouts already engineered. The yacht is available for 18.9 million euros.
