Raphael Blot and his partners at McConaghy Boats in Zhuhai, China, must be flying high. The first of the new MC60 catamarans, a high performance yacht designed for high speeds and short-handed sailing, has been photographed in Hong Kong going through her paces. The first hull touched the water in April and the yacht is now in Hong Kong undergoing sea trials prior to delivery. A second hull is due out shortly, and this is owned by Blot, who intends to cruise Southeast Asia with it. The yacht was designed by Renaud Banuls with a strong emphasis on lightweight construction and minimalist interiors. The MC60 comes at nine tonnes displacement, which compares very well with competing performance catamarans in her size, and is priced at US$2.5 million. McConaghy's General Manager Mark Evans notes this may be relatively high, but it comes with very high spec as a standard. A 78 and a 53 have also been designed by Banuls.
