A new 31-metre Phinisi boat (Indonesian-styled, wood built boats) has been added into the charter market for cruises in Indonesia's most scenic island destinations. Alexa, which features design by Talika Oazia, has been built specifically for couples and romantic getaways. There is only one guest cabin aboard Alexa, which can reach destinations in Komodo National Park, Bali and Lombok and elsewhere. Itineraries can be tailored to meet a couples' expectations. Alexa features on-board spa therapies and retains a gourmet chef, ensuring very relaxing cruising. “The design of the Alexa mixes the traditional with the new,” said Veronika Blomgren, the cruise concept’s creator and founder of Oazia. “We’ve refinished the original teak and added glass and stainless steel, primitive sculpture and well-chosen antiques. There are silk Persian rugs and cherished kilims and panoramic windows for viewing the changing landscape at sea.” The main deck has several open lounge areas, while the original galley has been replaced with a modern, open kitchen with gourmands in mind. Blomgren, who was born in Russia and trained in art, design and architecture in Stockholm, settled in Bali eight years ago, opening Oazia Spa Villas and more recently Spa Vodka Lobster Bar and the adjacent Oazia Fashion Selection, a shop for stylish resort wear, located in a leafy courtyard in South Bali, all under the Oazia lifestyle brand. She is also a co-founder of Details, a top interior design school in Moscow, and is partnered in the cruises with Talika, a French cosmetics company.
Cruise director Boumidienne Senous added, “Sure, we serve such staples as the classic Indonesia fried rice dish nasi goreng but you can also expect some fantastic international dining choices like ceviche, tartar and Carpaccio, grilled seafood, healthy salads and delicious deserts along with a well-stocked bar.” Alexa was refit as a luxury cruiser after an earlier career as a cargo boat. Alexa is now based out of Flores, which puts it in quick and easy reach of Komodo destinations. Flores has a small airport that has connecting flights with Bali and Jakarta, and can also be accessed by charter jet. Alexa by Talika Oazia is the first of eight private cruise boats planned by the company, with launches of the next two expected by the end of 2014.
