Published: Tuesday, 16 July 2013
This leading international classic and vinatge yacht race called into Naples at the end of June for the first time in its nine year history following on from the Les Voiles d'Antibes on the Côte d' Azur and the Sailing Week at Porto Santo Stefano in Italy.
It was held in the beautiful Bay of Naples and viewed from the waterfront of that famous town with the magnificent Mount Vesuvius providing a breathtaking backdrop to the whole event. The regatta was organised by the prestigious Reale Yacht Club Canottiere Savoia.
Vintage boats built before 1950, Classics built between 1950 and 1975 and Spirit of Tradition, those recently built boats that are inspired by lines and designs from the past, were lined up in different classes to compete against each other. In total, more than 40 boats, many of them of historic signifance, took part competing for a plethora of trophies and prizes, the most coveted of which were the watches put up by Officine Panerai for the overall winners of the different classes.
