Sunreef announces new facility

Polish luxury catamaran-builder Sunreef Yachts has announced the construction of a new production facility in Gdańsk, Poland. The investment is estimated to be worth some $7.7 million.
The new facility will allow the company to increase output and move production back to its own plant from the one that it currently rents. In January 2012 Sunreef’s original Gdańsk-based shipyard was destroyed by fire.
According to local media reports, the new plant will be located on a site measuring around 50,000 square metres in Gdańsk’s Rudniki district. Upon completion, Sunreef hopes to add another 100 employees to its current workforce of about 400.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2013. Sunreef also plans to strengthen its foothold in Asia. It opened an office in Shanghai in early 2013 and is planning to launch another in Dubai later in the year.
Sunreef Yachts is owned by French businessman Francis Lapp. The company builds power catamarans and sailing yachts from 18 to 61 metres.
