Leading superyacht brokerage and services group Fraser Worldwide is expanding its presence in Asia with representation in Singapore. Fraser is working with Julian Chang, the former managing director of Raffles Yachts, to develop this presence, which will likely include a new office. Fraser already has offices in India and Beijing. Through his involvement with Raffles Yachts, Chang has been associated with the construction of the some of the largest yachts built in Asia such as Asean Lady, Nero and currently the 88.8-metre Illusion. The latter is the largest yacht yet built in China by volume at some 3,500 tonnes. She is set to be delivered in 2015 and is currently being promoted for sale through Fraser.

Chang said: “I am now working with Fraser in Southeast Asia and will be helping them gain a foothold in Singapore and other countries.” Patrick Coote, Fraser’s global marketing director, explained that after exhibiting at the Shanghai Boat Show for several years and having received poor response, Fraser had become disillusioned with the China and Asian market.

This changed with the appointment of a new manager in the Beijing office, who has since reversed its fortunes and successfully brought several new clients to Fraser. The marketing of the Illusion came to Fraser through a relationship that sales broker Jan Jaap Minnema had formed with the shipyard. Fraser Yachts, part of the Azimut Benetti Group, charters, builds, sells and provides crewing services for superyachts.
