Columbus’ Palumbo Shipyard in Naples recently witnessed the launching of the new 40-metre Sport Hybrid superyacht. She is now on her way to Monaco where she will debut at the upcoming yacht show.
This all aluminium vessel has a semi-displacement hull and sports an 8.2-metre beam and 1.75-metre draft. She grosses 500 tons. Naval architecture and exterior design was by Hydro Tech and Hot Lab Yacht and Design penned the interiors. She stands out for her spacious layout and her very versatile open areas. Large windows permit lots of natural light to penetrate. Wherever possible eco-friendly materials have been used in her build.
Five large state rooms accommodate up to 10 guests and she carries a crew of nine. The owner’s suite and study are on the main deck, the guest and crew quarters on the lower deck.
This vessel comes with two MTU 10V2000M94 engines and the electrical option propulsion is provided by two Siemens 2X60kW systems. She can be run on just the generators at low speeds and averages about 7 knots. On her diesels she can reach 22 knots and cruises at around 15 knots. At cruising speed she has a range of 2,000 nautical miles. She is also fitted with Zero Speed stabilizers.
Based on both her hybrid propulsion system and the use of natural materials this yacht is being marketed on its very “green” credentials. She is RINA classed, LY2, and Green Plus (Y) compliant.
