With only about four months to go before the opening of the eleventh Phuket International Boat Show on 1 January, there is already action both in the water and the exhibition hall with exhibitors reserving prime space.

Top Thai brokers will be showcasing their leading brands. Simpson Marine has already reserved space to display its Azimut, Lagoon and Beneteau offerings.

Princess Yachts are planning to exhibit five motor yachts from their 42 to 75-foot ranges. Sunseeker is expected to enter two yachts into the in-water line up. Lee Marine are keeping their cards very close to their chest but are though to be planning a big surprise.

New this year will be Gulf Charters who are coming from Pattaya. They will be displaying their newly completed 38-foot catamaran in Phuket for the first time.

The chief of the Marine Department in Bangkok and his team recently visited to inspect the channel leading into Royal Phuket Marina. This has raised hopes that work will soon start on deepening this waterway, allowing larger draft vessels into the marina. This will likely be completed before the 2015 show and paves the way for greater superyacht participation in the future.
