Spanish motoryacht maker Rodman has just announced its winning of a contract for the construction and delivery of 40 patrol boats to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They will comprise mainly rescue and coastguard boats.
Rodman says the 40 Fast Coastal Patrol boats will be 11.3 metres long by 3.2 metres at the beam. The company, which has constructed boats of 11 metres, 14 metres and 30 metres for other governments and clients, have said they will be designing a completely new type of patrol boat for this contract.
These boats will come with 2,350 horsepower outboards capable of powering them up to 50 knots at top speed. They will carry four crew and up to 10 more people with a 250-nautical mile range.
Previously, Rodman had built ten14-metre boats designed for prevention and security for Saudi Arabia. This new contract is a testament that country's appreciation of Rodman's build quality.
Rodman also builds leisure boats under the Rodman Spirit, Fisher & Cruiser and Muse brands, GRP patrol boats up to 30 metres steel boats up to 170 metres, fishing boats of over 36 metres and regatta boats. The company sells in over 50 different countries.
