There’s a little less than three months to go before the opening of the 11th edition of the Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX) at the Royal Phuket Marina on 9 January 2014 and there is already lots of action both on the water and in the exhibition hall with prime space being snapped up fast.

One big surprise is in store. Wider, the company started by Tilli Antonelli, formerly founder and boss of Pershing, will be showcasing their unique Wider 42 for the first time in Thailand (Full review story here). This one of the most innovative designs to come to the market in recent years thanks to the collaboration of Fulvio di Simoni and Mark Wilson of racing boat fame.

Action Heating Up For Pimex 2014

At rest the central cockpit area can be opened up to double its normal area (18 square metres) with floats extended out into a trimaran-style platform for stability. The hull is composed of advanced composites (high carbon content) for lightweight and strength and built using vacuum infusion techniques.

The January date for the show has raised considerable interest from the luxury car brand sector while charter agents and equipment and service providers are busy reserving indoor space. The organisers are partnering with Smart Property Shows to bring regional investment opportunities to the show. Local luxury real estate companies Vista Del Mar and RPM La Reserve have already confirmed their participation.

Recognising the ever-changing demographics of the PIMEX visitor profile there has been a big marketing campaign focusing on Russian visitors and the organisers have partnered with two additional Russian-language publications.
