Published: Thursday, 24 October 2013
It’s that time of the year again for the kick off of the prestigious 2014 Singapore Straits Regatta (SSR). This regatta is one of the three anchors of the Asian Sailing Circuit for the Perpetual Cup series and participants will race against other sailors from around the region in nine races over four days and between the beautiful destinations of Singapore and Batam from 14 to 18 January 2014.
The regatta is organised by ONE°15 Marina Club and supported by Changi Sailing Club, Marina at Keppel Bay, Nongsa Point Marina & Resort, Raffles Marina, the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club and is sanctioned by the Singapore Sailing Federation.
Dr Ben Tan, President of the Singapore Sailing Federation said: “The Singapore Straits Regatta is an integral part of Singapore’s sailing calendar. The Federation is very pleased to see the host continuing to engage various government agencies to reinvent and enhance the event. The additional categories and multiple formats of the last edition is testimony that the SSR aims to meet diverse expectations. Also, the growth in entries bodes well for this and future editions as well.”
With keen interest in this, the 20th edition, from past sponsors and participants, the 2014 regatta looks like being the most exciting one yet. It is as much about serious competition as it is about the light-hearted and relaxed camaraderie that the organisers have created around it.
ONE°15 Marina Club is the winner of several international accolades and has hosted many prestigious international events including The Volvo Ocean Race 2008/ 2009, the Asia Superyacht Conference from 2009 to 2013 and Asia’s only superyacht show, the Singapore Yacht Show from 2011 to 2013.
Located in Sentosa Cove, the prime leisure district of Singapore, ONE°15 Marina Club has a beautiful marina with 270 berths with facilities to accommodate megayachts of up to 200 feet. It has fine restaurants and bars, luxurious rooms, a modern spa, a well-equipped gymnasium, as well as conference and meeting rooms.
Nongsa Point Marina is a premier resort with international marina facilities and residential properties built around a natural cove on Batam Island, Indonesia.
