United Yacht Transport LLC has announced that it plans to create the largest yacht carrier in the world. The company, based out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, expects this 229-metre vessel will benefit clients in the yachting community at large.
A company spokesman said that the conversion of a Panamax-sized bulk vessel would produce the world’s largest yacht transport vessel with a cargo capacity of over 40,000 DWT. Overall dimensions would be 229 metres by 46 metres and this will allow for passage through the newly-widened Panama Canal.
“We believe this investment will ensure the yachting fraternity a safe and reliable means of transportation," said Paul Haber, COO of United Yacht Transport.
Delivery of the vessel is currently scheduled for the second quarter of 2015.
