It will host events both on the land and in the water. So far some 100 exhibitors, both local and international, have indicated their intention to take part. There will be about 150 boats on display with five global and regional launches. Organisers are expecting in excess of 15,000 visitors to this inaugural event.

Local exhibitors from the Qatari industry will include Al Wakra, Al Uudeid, Halul and Milaha. These companies all manufacture fiberglass boats. Exhibitors from elsewhere in the UAE will include Gulf Craft, Emirates Boats, Al Shaali, Dubai Marine and Sawamy. From Bahrain Al Dhaen is also expected to exhibit. Performance Marine of Qatar will be showcasing Cigarette Racing Boats, Nortech Hi-Performance and Glasstream boats.

The line up of international boat builders includes the Ferretti Group (represented in the region by Gulf Yachts and Art Marine), Sunseeker International from the UK, Princess Yachts also from the UK, Azimut Yachts from Italy, Sanlorenzo, Benetti, Overmarine, the FIPA Group represented by their two brands, Maiora and AB Yachts, Sunreef Yachts with their line up of catamarans, the Istanbul-based Bilgin Shipyard and the Cranchi shipyard. All in all this is a pretty impressive line up of attendees for a first edition show.

To coincide with the show the country is also putting together plans to create its very own Marine Association. The president of the Qatar Marine Sports Federation (QMSF), H.E. Hassan Bin Jabor Al-Thani, announced that a round table meeting is to be held between marine stakeholders and government officials during the show at which the association formation will be discussed. This association will help promote awareness of the local market, create opportunities by identifying needs and attracting the right caliber of specialists and to help Qatar gain international recognition in this field.

Faysal Mikati, President of Snow Comms Conceptual Communications and Events, said: “The quality of the international companies that have signed up for the show is testament to the confidence they have in its organization and execution. We have visited all the major show around the world over the past two years and taken on board all the lessons we have learned, both the good and the bad, about each event."

Another first for the event will be the featuring of a string quartet performing at a special gala evening during the show – this is believed to be the first time a string quartet has been commissioned by an international maritime event. It will feature original works by Dr. Sophia Serhi.
