The Azimut|Benetti Group has achieved across the board site safety standards. With a total of 11 certified locations, the Azimut|Benetti is the only group in the nautical sector to have gained a multi-site accreditation.

The ‘BS OHSAS 18001’ certification procedure, which began in Avigliana in October 2009 and ended in Livorno in November 2013, involved eleven different sites, all belonging to Azimut|Benetti Group. On 2 December the RINA Technical Committee for Safety authorised the new certificate for the Livorno site, thereby officially declaring the implementation of an accurate control system for workers Health and Security.

With this achievement Azimut|Benetti is once more focusing on social responsibility, strongly believing that workers’ health and safety represent an essential requirement and therefore any action taken to support employees is not to be seen as a burden but as an investment. Such investments are aimed at creating a culture within the company which is directly focused on health and safety, according to the idea that “Only the ones who have a culture of safety can built safe yachts”.

Over 21,000 hours training were necessary to obtain the certification, during which staff underwent active technical training including: considering and evaluating foreseeable risks; developing procedures for monitoring workers occupational health; machinery and equipment maintenance schedules; emergency reaction procedures; and the distribution and use of personal safety devices.

More than 800 contractors received the training, most of whom were located in the areas around the Benetti shipyards in Viareggio and Livorno.
