An official change in visa restrictions means that yachts visiting the Maldives can stay for longer, it has been announced.

Mohamed Hameed of Asia Pacific Superyachts Maldives explains “The changing of the past rule, which provided for a 90 day stay of a tourist vessel allowed in the Maldives is now officially changed to the new rule, providing for a 180 day stay for the boat. If the boat is registered in IMO [the International Marine Organisation] the stay can be extended up to 270 days in total.”

Allowing visiting boats to stay up to nine months will give visitors to the Maldives the chance to fully explore all that the archipelago has to offer.
