UK-based Spirit Yachts, a world leader in the design and build of modern classic sail yachts, confirms its first overseas office is opening in Asia. Spirit Yachts Asia will be based in The Gateway at Harbour City on Canton Road in TST overlooking Victoria Harbour. A Spirit 52 is en route to take the lead as the Spirit Yachts showboat for Asia. This is a significant move for a British yacht builder and signals a very positive and exciting development in the growth of ‘modern classic yachts’.

Spirit Yachts Managing Director Sean McMillan says the company is delighted to be announcing this new initiative.

“Asia is an immensely important growth market for luxury brands and none more so than a British Queen’s Award-winning company like ours," he says. "We have built an enviable reputation for designing and building the most beautiful high performance modern classic yachts in the world. Spirit Yachts Asia will be settling in this summer and preparing to open as soon as the showboat arrives. We are now exporting about 90% worldwide - the new Hong Kong office will help us build and expand on our portfolio of 63 yachts.“

Spirit Yachts has perfected the build technique for lightweight and immensely strong wooden yachts. Stainless steel space frames and state-of-the-art carbon rigs make these the ultimate racer-cruiser (reaching speeds in excess of 19 knots). Beauty and style are Spirit Yachts' hallmark, highlighted in 007’s Casino Royale movie where the Spirit 54 features as Bond’s yacht of choice. Handcrafted in Britain, every one is unique and tailor made to the client’s high specifications. The Spirit 76 is pictured.

Spirit has a busy build schedule and will be launching this year what it describes as ‘a true masterpiece by any standard’ – the new Spirit 74.
