Galatea Exceeds Expectations

In early March and in perfect sea conditions Heesen’s latest superyacht launch, the 40–metre Sportster Galatea, achieved 29.7 knots on her first sea trial, 2.2 knots above the contractual speed.
Following Galatea’s launch in January at the Heesen facility in Oss, Germany, she was moved to Hellevoetsluis in the Netherlands on the North Sea for sea trials. With her all-aluminium, semi-displacement hull, Active Interceptor stabilisers and the latest zero-speed Seakeeper gyro stabilisers, the Galatea handled the testing conditions with ease.
The Galatea is the ultimate expression of Heesen’s history and experience in yacht building – powerful performance, uncompromising interior design and peerless Dutch construction. Her interior features contrasting woods, simple clean lines, marquetry and glass detailing, creating an atmosphere of calm, contemporary elegance.
Galatea is the first in a new breed of Heesen superyachts, drawing her lineage from the very successful 37–metre class, of which 10 have been built.
