EYOS Expeditions And Enigma XK Announce Broad Partnership

EYOS Expeditions and the expedition yacht Enigma XK announce a broad partnership that will be able to provide one of the most luxurious expedition yacht experiences in the world. Beginning with the yacht’s upcoming Antarctic season, Enigma XK will work exclusively with EYOS on all its charters.
“There are very few yachts in the world that are designed and built as true expedition yachts,” says EYOS Expeditions CEO Captain Ben Lyons. “Even fewer have a professional, fully staffed crew that understands the demands of an expedition and can embrace the spirit of flexibility needed to make it a success. Enigma XK is one of those few, and we look forward to leading world-class, bespoke expeditions to remote, wild and culturally rich locations aboard this incredible yacht.”
The 71-metre long Enigma XK, designed to sail in the roughest seas on the planet, was originally built as the Scottish Fisheries Agency Patrol vessel Norna in 1988. Acquired by her current owner in 2011, she has been undergoing a three-year transformation from rugged government vessel into luxury yacht in La Rochelle, France.
“Having two expedition staff onboard offers clients the luxury of choice,” says Lyons. “Some clients may want to go kayaking in Neko Harbour, Antarctica, while others would prefer a hike up to a spectacular view over a glacier. We will be able to offer two activities at the same time. It also allows us the flexibility to accommodate the interests of our clients, whether that is history, marine biology, photography, or ornithology. Whatever their interest is, we can supply an experienced guide to enrich their expedition.”
A large upper saloon features floor to ceiling windows that will frame the stunning views of the passing landscapes. There is a massage room, gym and even a hair salon. A small spa pool is located aft of a protected al-fresco dining area, and the yacht’s many toys, including jeeps, kayaks and a certified heli-pad, will ensure clients have the best exploration experience possible.
Enigma XK’s 15-foot draft and 12,000 mile range mean she can set off on long explorations far away from supporting infrastructure. Her twin 3,000hp Ruston engines propel her at 18 knots.
