Simpson Marine and China Cup Sign Contract for Lagoon 7MA

Simpson Marine and China Cup Regatta have a long history of cooperation that began with the sale of 10 Beneteau First 40.7 sailboats in 2007, and another 20 of the yachts the following year. The two groups continue to build on that relationship and have announced an agreement on October 25 for the purchase of a Lagoon 7MA luxury catamaran.
Beneteau Asia Managing Director Thibaut de Montvalon and Simpson Marine Group Sales Director Richard Allen signed the agreement on stage at this year’s China Cup in Shenzhen.
The Lagoon 7MA is the newest and largest yacht in the French builder’s luxury line of production catamarans, with first deliveries due in 2016. The 7MA will have the largest and most comfortable interior of any Lagoon yacht. This is the first sale worldwide of this new design and the purchase by China Cup will allow a large number of people to enjoy the space and luxury of Lagoon’s flagship model.
China Cup Deputy Secretary-General Zhong Yong says the China Cup is developing a range of new events to attract even more international competitors. The Zheng He Race will be a 600nm offshore event to celebrate the achievements of the legendary Chinese admiral 600 years ago. Procuring the Lagoon 7MA is in support of beginning this event within the next five years.
“China Cup’s purchase of 30 Beneteau First 40.7 sailboats in 2007 and 2008 created the largest one design racing fleet in China,” Zhong says. “Today, we will work together with Simpson Marine again, with another world-class yacht manufacturer."
Lagoon is part of Beneteau Group, the world’s largest boat builder. Since its birth 30 years ago, Lagoon has not let up on its pace of innovation. Simpson Marine is one of the world’s top Lagoon dealers, and the top dealer in Asia. Simpson Marine is also recognised by Lagoon as the best service provider for the brand in the region.
In the future, Simpson Marine and China Cup will continue to contribute to the support and development of the nautical lifestyle and the marine industry. Simpson Marine and the Beneteau Group have organised several sailing training events to help introduce people to the maritime culture.
