Jeanneau Hosts Owners, Opens Sailing Academy in Sanya

The 2nd edition of the Jeanneau and Prestige annual Chinese Owners’ Rendezvous, hosted by Jeanneau and dealer Speedo Marine, took place last month at Sanya Serenity Marina on Hainan Island.
With 22 Jeanneau and Prestige yachts participating, this edition gathered twice as many boats as the first edition, making it the biggest yacht owners’ event in China.
While the sailboats were competing in a regatta around East Island, the motorboats were following the action and enjoying the scenery.
The wide range of models represented included the two Sun Fast 3200 sailboats from the newly established Jeanneau Sailing Academy, six Jeanneau 57 and four Prestige 620.
In the light winds, the Sun Fast 3200 demonstrated its performance ability and completed the course faster than any of the big cruising boats.
Back on land, a cocktail and dinner party was hosted poolside at the Serenity Marina Yacht Club, where the 250 owners and VIP guests could share their passion and sailing stories.
There was a prize-giving ceremony, as well as French gourmet food and entertaining shows.
JEANNEAU LAUNCHES SAILING ACADEMY IN CHINA
In the wake of its partnership with Dongfeng Race Team representing China in the Volvo Ocean Race, Jeanneau continues to show its commitment to the development of sailing in China with the establishment of the Jeanneau Sailing Academy.
Over the last decade, Jeanneau has built up a family of more than 300 Chinese owners. These pioneers of Chinese yachting are the inspiration to many newcomers today and the technical level of the Chinese sailing scene has increased dramatically with the number of events organised in the country.
Created in partnership with the Sanya Serenity Marina Sailing Academy on Hainan Island, the Jeanneau Sailing Academy is a programme designed specifically for Jeanneau keelboats. It offers the possibility for anyone, whatever his/her sailing background, to improve his/her sailing skills with highly qualified coaches. The pedagogic team is led by Laurence Nicolas, a multiple Olympic Class French champion who has also coached the Chinese National Sailing Team.
The two Sun Fast 3200 sailboats of the Jeanneau academy are fast, light and easy to handle – an ideal platform for beginners or advanced sailors to get experience and develop skills in helming, trimming sails and managing manoeuvres on deck.
Training courses range from the discovery of sailing to fine-tuning performance on the race track, as well as team-building programmes.
