BMT Asia Pacific and McConaghy Boats announce the development of the Tri60. The 60-foot trimaran provides an exciting and comfortable powerboat experience.
“BMT worked with McConaghy two years ago on a unique composite project at the same time that the much-celebrated 143-foot Adastra trimaran was being completed,” says Richard Colwill, Managing Director at BMT Asia Pacific. “We asked how can we capture the spirit of this compelling work? How do we create something that is as innovative and exciting, whilst also being accessible to a wider day boat or weekend market?”
The Tri60 was created using the expertise and passion of BMT’s naval architects and engineers across Asia and Europe with styling by Henry Ward Design and A Sea Marine. Two versions are available: the open Tri60 Cabriolet and the more enclosed Tri60 Saloon. Both variants are built from an optimised trimaran hull form providing outstanding performance.
“In taking the Tri60 forward we are building on decades of high-performance composite and multihull experience in the prototype and production boats that will deliver a unique yacht providing clients space, style and speed in a manner that no other yacht of this size offers,” says Mark Evans, Joint Managing Director at McConaghy.
Huge windows, skylights and sliding glass doors support the seamless integration of indoor and outdoor space. The stern garage holds a 10-foot, four-person tender allowing the Tri60 to be used as a base for coastal exploration, while the pontoons store additional deck furniture, fenders and water toys.
The yacht can travel up to 32 knots with the basic engine option. The narrow hull rides above the waves making for a pleasantly smooth passage.
The efficient hull permits the twin 475hp engines to deliver cruising and top speeds in a compact, lightweight package. The twin water jets come with fingertip control for manoeuvring in tight spaces.
“We are very excited to offer McConaghy’s advanced composite construction capabilities in partnership with BMT’s design initiative,” says Evans. “The combined strength of our two organisations has created a light, efficient and durable yacht with eye catching style. The Tri60 is truly a platform for owners to experience the water in ways that they could only once dream of.”
