Hong Kong Gold Coast Boat Show visitors enjoyed wonderful weather last weekend May 1-3 at the Gold Coast Yacht and Country Club.
The theme of the show was Affordable Luxury and vessels ranged from affordable, fun weekend cruisers for under HKD$100,000 to the indulgent, pure luxury of European mega yachts exceeding HKD$50 million. The event, which welcomed over 4,000 visitors on the first day, offered something for every yachting enthusiast. Over HKD$1 billion dollars in boats and gear were displayed.
The show included the first Mystery Boat Charity Regatta, a fun build-and-race challenge, which helped raised funds for the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
This year the Hong Kong Gold Coast Boat Show boasted yachts made specifically for the Asian market. Italian made-to-measure motor yacht builder Sanlorenzo displayed the 32-metre Sanlorenzo SL106 Special Edition, offering Italian heritage and style with an understanding of Asia’s discerning tastes.
Other yachts and yachts brands on display included Ferretti 870, Monte Carlo Yachts MCY 86, Arcadia 85, Riva, Azimut, Beneteau and Lagoon.
One of Asia’s leading yacht dealership’s Simpson Marine sold three yachts at the show: an Azimut 70, an Azimut 45 and a Magellano 50 – all to Hong Kong buyers. Simpson Marine displayed seven yachts including the Azimut 70, Azimut Magellano 50, Beneteau Antares 42, Beneteau Flyer 6, Monte Carlo 5 and Lagoon 450.
“Simpson Marine has been a proud participant in the Gold Coast Boat Show for 15 years, but this was the best one yet,” says Mike Simpson, Managing Director of Simpson Marine. “Excellent organisation, good crowds and cooperative weather made it a very pleasurable and successful event.”
The show attracted many visitors who were curious to learn more about Asia’s yachting lifestyle. Some guests were looking to purchase their first boat, while others were keen on upgrading. The show was bustling with activity for the whole weekend showcasing boats, but marine electronics, boat accessories and even a children’s entertainment area.
