For the first time, Dutch shipbuilder Vripack Studio participated in the Maritime Art Exposition. AMACEing Beijing brought together a fine collection of Chinese and International maritime art at the Today Art Museum in Beijing, China in combination with a small selection of international Superyacht companies.
Curated by Martello Yachting, the event provided a deep cultural experience for the invitation only guests.
The installation showcased Dutch maritime art in a unique combination with the presence of some of the most renowned Dutch luxury yachting brands.
"Following our engineering fantasies theme, we created an art installation with our famous mannequins whom all held 3D printed yacht models in their hands," says Vripack Creative Director Bart Bouwhuis. "We partly wrapped the whole booth in sketch paper and inspired them with live sketching. I think everyone that visited the museum made at least 10 pictures and immediately started sending them off.”
Vripack’s Creative Director Marnix Hoekstra explained the energy of event-goers in a region that is new to the yachting industry.
"To inspire people with our unique creative expression on yacht design and talk with them about what makes a good design, simply gives an enormous amount of energy,” says Hoekstra. “Very fitting to have this first exposition ever in China where of course yachting is so young and fragile."
Vripack Studio is now showcasing at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show (Nov 5-9) in Florida, USA.
The HISWA Holland Yachting Group and Royal Huisman also participated in the AMACEing Beijing art and culture exhibition this week. The collective Think Yachts Think Holland stand was dedicated to the rich history and culture of the Dutch superyacht industry.
In the same week King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands paid a state visit to the People's Republic of China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. Parallel to the state visit, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders led the large economic trade mission of more than 150 Dutch companies. Participation in AMACEing Beijing fits within the strategy of the HISWA Holland Yachting Group to enter and open up new markets.
