First announced in late 2014, the three-cabin (plus optional crew cabin) classic-style cruiser drew instant attention, with four already ordered going to buyers in Norway, Sweden, Hong Kong and the Middle East.

"Markets across the world gave us a powerful vote of confidence with this new-generation model and its sister 50-foot pilot house," says Explorer CEO Mark Campion.

The Explorer 58 Pilot House is a semi-displacement cruiser offering three cabins and two bathrooms with the master suite stretching across the full beam amidships.

"We are a semi-custom builder and each of the boats on order has a range of variations," says Campion.

Hull number one, equipped with a pair of 480hp Cummins turbo diesel engines, will cruise at up to 18 knots. By contrast, hull number three will be delivered with a pair of 670hp Cummins turbo diesels, providing speeds up to 23 knots.

The first boat includes special interior and exterior fittings, fabrics and benchtops.

"Hull three, for client in Hong Kong, will be our first with dark blue gel coat. We researched gel coat suppliers extensively before selecting Scott Bader,” explains Campion. “This company has a powerful reputation for quality dark colour gel coats. The client fell in love with the classic modern styling of the Explorer 58 Pilot House, which he considers will be timeless. The galley layout is totally different from the first two to suit the client's boating needs in the warm climates of Hong Kong. The port guest cabin will have four bunks for their children."

This client has also opted for an extended Opacmare hydraulic swimming platform. The tender will be stored on the swim platform as they want the entire flybridge available for seating, entertaining and sun bathing.

Hull four, bound for the Middle East, features lighter Anigree timber interior with custom fabrics. It will have an extended swim platform, custom electric sunshades aft of the flybridge hardtop with custom sunshades for the bow area. This boat also has an electric sliding hatch in the hardtop so that this area opens up at night. The saloon will also have an additional sofa on the port side in lieu of a standard entertainment centre.

The new Explorer 58 Pilot House cruiser follows in the tradition of the marque as a long-distance blue-water cruiser, designed to support family and friends in comfort and style in most sea states and to provide a high level of luxury.

“The 58 Pilot House will appeal to experienced boating enthusiasts who cruise the coasts and seas of Europe, Asia and the Americas,” says Campion. “This new model includes a range of standard features that most builders offer only as options. These include both bow and stern thrusters for ultimate manoeuvring control.”
