The upcoming 2016 Asia Boating Awards organised by Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating magazines features 25 categories and a shortlist of more than 200 nominees that include boats, yachts, superyachts, builders, brands, marinas, yacht clubs, regattas, designers and personalities from across the region, and around the world.

The 12th edition of the Asia Boating Awards sees the nomination criteria refined and categories streamlined for each award. Due to popular demand and industry trends, there are four new categories: Best Multihull Motor Yacht, Best Multihull Sailing Yacht, Best Asian Yacht Refit and Best Asian Boat Show.

The pioneering Asia Boating Awards is the first event to recognise the efforts and successes of Asian yacht builders, as well as companies focusing on the challenging Mainland China yachting market. The awards will take place on Thursday, 7th April in Singapore, the opening day of the Singapore Yacht Show at ONE°15 Marina Club on Sentosa Island.

“This year’s shortlist is impressive, and includes a lot of first-time nominees,” says Asia-Pacific Boating Editor-in-Chief Glen Watson. “With four new categories, we recognise the efforts being made to increase the number of boaters in the region and improve the boating experience here for everyone. Catamarans are growing in popularity across Asia, especially in Australia and Southeast Asia. There are also a lot of exciting things happening in the refit market, and we also want to highlight the important work being done by boat show organisers to boost the industry across the region.”

The list of nominees comes from online polling of Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating readers, with final winners being determined by a panel of judges selected for their expertise as well as their ability to make informed, impartial decisions.

"This year, the four new categories give us the opportunity to look deep into the boat shows, catamarans and refit boat market. There are a lot of new nominees in the list this time and the competition for the awards is keen. The 2016 Asia Boating Awards in Singapore will be an exciting night of celebration with all the nominees and winners who put in so much effort throughout the year,” says China Boating Editor-in-Chief Samuel Xu.
