RAAF To Perform At Gold Coast Marine Expo

Visitors to Australia’s Gold Coast International Marine Expo (May 19-22) will be treated to family fun on land, on water and in the air. ‘The boat show with so much more’ has just confirmed the elite aerial acrobatics of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Roulettes will be an exclusive attraction on both Saturday and Sunday of the four-day expo at Coomera.
“The Roulettes pilots are the ‘Top Gun’ flying instructors of the Royal Australian Air Force – they are regarded as the best of the best,” says Expo Event & Marketing Manager Emma Brown. “An appointment to the Roulettes is a rare distinction – in fact, these are the pilots who actually instruct the next generation of RAAF flying instructors.”
Roulettes Squadron Leader Daniel Kehoe has over 5000 flying hours to his credit and has six deployments to the Middle East as well as various humanitarian operations to his credit.
“During the show we usually fly at speeds up to 460 kilometres an hour and, occasionally, 590kph, depending on the manoeuvre and as close as three metres apart,” says Kehoe. “The aircraft may pull up to 4.5G with Roulette 5 pulling as much as 6G so the show can be very demanding on the pilots, with a very high level of concentration and determined effort required for a range of manoeuvres of varying difficulty, including loops and rolls, corkscrews, ripple rolls and rollbacks.”
“From large and luxurious motor and sailing yachts to lightweight tenders and even the latest water toys and fishing equipment, as well as Queensland’s biggest trailer boat line-up this year, expo will have something for every boating enthusiast,” says Brown.
On land, the expo’s exhibits will also showcase everything from the very latest in navigation and technology, spanning fish-finders, depth-sounders, night-vision cameras, underwater lighting, chart-plotters, anchoring systems and water-makers, to name but a few.
“In addition to an incredibly diverse, hands-on marine showcase, fun family attractions as well as practical interactive and educational demonstrations will be staged every 15 minutes across the giant 3km expo display circuit,” adds Brown.

The expo – staged right in the heart of Australia’s boating industry capital, the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at Coomera – is the best place to buy a boat or boating equipment, with hundreds of exhibitors in the one location.
