Rolex Awarding China Sea Race Winner With Yacht-Master

Rolex, the official sponsor of the Rolex China Sea Race (Mar 23), will present the winner of the 565-nautical mile offshore race with a new black 18-carat Everose gold version of its nautical Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master, fitted exclusively with the innovative Oysterflex bracelet developed and patented by Rolex.
The Yacht-Master comes in two sizes: 40mm and the latest 37mm diameter version. Its Oyster case in 18-carat Everose gold includes a rotatable bezel fitted with a new Cerechrom insert in black ceramic with polished raised numerals on a matt background.
The Yacht-Master’s Oysterflex bracelet offers a sporty alternative to metal bracelets without compromising robustness or waterproofness.
The Oyster case is guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100-metres (330 feet). The middle case crafted from a solid block of 18-carat Everose gold, cast by Rolex in tis own foundry. The crystal, with a Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire.
Crews aboard the 34 boats will race from Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour to Subic Bay, Philippines in this biennial event.
Fresh from Phuket King’s Cup with a stated aim of completing the stable of Rolex classic offshore races is Russian entry Megazip, a Cookson 12M owned by Sergey Khramtsov and skippered by Vladimir Chirkov, a veteran of nine Rolex offshore races including the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, the Giraglia Rolex Cup, the Rolex Middle Sea Race and the Rolex Fastnet Race.
Russian entry Megazip’s Team Manager Alexander Vodovatov expanded on his ambitions of winning, explaining, “the dream to attract Russian yachtsmen to these Rolex races, to popularize them. The dream of every team in Rolex races is to win a Rolex Yacht-Master - these watches are pieces of art! ...I would love that in our country a 600nm Rolex Race will appear one day.”
