Singapore Show Confirms Simpson Marine Success
Published: Tuesday, 19 April 2016
This year’s sixth edition of the Singapore Yacht Show (Apr 7-10) was a success for the Hong Kong-based sales and brokerage company Simpson Marine, with the company displaying an impressive lineup of yachts from leading brands including two Singapore premieres with a stunning superyacht Sanlorenzo 104 INDIGO and the Monte Carlo Yachts 86.
With over 30 years of experience in yachting, Simpson Marine is the exclusive distributor of brands Beneteau Sail and Power, Lagoon Catamarans, CNB, Monte Carlo and Monte Carlo Yachts (MCY). New additions to this range are Italian premium superyacht brand, Sanlorenzo and US leading sport-fishing brand, Viking.
The four-day yacht show included a press conference at the Simpson Marine hospitality stand on April 8. The conference gathered media and featured prominent speakers Simpson Marine Founder and Managing Director Mike Simpson, Monte Carlo Yachts President and President of Italian Nautical Industry Association (UCINA) Carla Demaria, Managing Director at Sanlorenzo SPA Ferruccio Rossi, Lagoon Director Yann Masselot and Viking Yachts International Sales Consultant Steve Boerema.
The speakers offered insight on how to help the industry grow in Asia. Key issues of infrastructure development, lack of berthing, high taxation and the need for more government support in coordinating development were identified as main challenges to overcome in order to unlock the tremendous potential of the region.
During the evenings, Simpson Marine welcomed Masterchef Asia Judge Audra Morrice with a live demonstration of the Cantonese dish Louhei for the owner of a Monte Carlo Yachts 86.

Simpson Marine was also presented with a number of awards at the Asia Boating Awards, held by Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating magazines. The brand received ‘Best Brand Presence in Asia’ award, ‘Best Sailing Multihull in Asia’ for the Lagoon 42, ‘Best Worldwide Production Motor Yacht over 25 metres’ for the Monte Carlo Yachts 86 and ‘Personality of the Year’ granted to Monte Carlo Yachts' President and Beneteau Group General Manager, Carla Demaria.
“The Singapore Yacht Show is the most important yacht show in South East Asia and as such attracts visitors from around the region, not only Singapore,” says Simpson. “The slightly lower number of potential yacht buyers among visitors at this year’s show is perhaps a reflection of the weaker market across Asia these last few months, and we are looking forward for that to change in due course of 2016. The Singapore Yacht Show is an excellent venue for showcasing our new and pre-owned yachts and remains an important show for Southeast Asia. This was the first time that Simpson Marine had brought all our brands together under one roof and this worked really well at the show. The combined strength of the leading brands, Sanlorenzo, Monte Carlo Yachts, Beneteau Sail and Power, Viking sport fishing yachts and Lagoon catamarans, all proudly represented in Asia by Simpson Marine was clearly demonstrated on our stand and recognized by the award of ‘Best Brand in Asia’ at the Asia Boating Awards this year.”
(Lagoon 450 SporTop)
This year Simpson Marine displayed one of its strongest lineups in Singapore. On water for the first time was superyacht Sanlorenzo SL 104, as well as a stunning Monte Carlo Yachts 86. A fleet of three Lagoon catamarans also joined the lineup. The Lagoon 450 SporTop was unveiled for the first time in Asia, accompanied by a Lagoon 630 Motor Yacht.
“Lagoon has been in partnership with Simpson Marine for 15 years,” says Masselot. “Our two companies have a common goal: to meet customer’s expectations through a high level of service. Simpson Marine is the only company in Asia that has high skilled technical service teams located throughout Asia. Mike Simpson is a sailor who understands the level of detail that goes into maintenance of a yacht. We are very proud of this long relationship between our two companies. Lagoon is proud to announce the launch of the Lagoon Seventy7 at the 2017 Singapore Yacht show. This yacht will become the new flagship of the Lagoon range bringing our clients the highest level of comfort and luxury."
Apart from the impressive yacht display, the company promoted its range of services including Yacht Care for absentee owners who wish to keep their yachts in Thailand and have them cared for whilst they are away, and Simpson Marine's own charter programme which helps generate revenue for yacht owners wishing to enjoy all operational costs covered by chartering during their absence.
An increased interest in bespoke luxury charters through Simpson Yacht Charter was seen in Singapore. The programme offers cruising throughout Southeast Asia on Lagoon catamarans, power boats and selected superyachts.
As a multi-brand, award-winning company, the Simpson Marine mantra is to make yachting easy and to help customers enjoy the yachting lifestyle by offering professional guidance and choice from the world’s leading yacht brands and with offices across Asia.
