The boat show will showcase the vibrant marine lifestyle, with live music, kids’ activities, celebrity cooking and fishing demonstrations, sailing workshops and more.
The Marine Village will be transformed into a thriving hub of fun for families, as the region’s premier boat show rolls out entertainment and social events, including the return of the very popular Women on Water programme as well as the launch of the inaugural Live Bream Shoot Out fishing competition.
SCIBS general manager Johan Hasser says this year’s event would feature a wide range of diverse activities catering for all ages and all interests.
“While SCIBS is of course extremely proud to be considered Asia Pacific’s premier boat show, gathering the best in marine innovation from the international industry, our team has created an event that is so much more than just a boat show, with live music, gourmet food and drink, and entertaining and informative activities and workshops for the entire family to enjoy,” Hasser says.
“With the introduction of exciting new highlights, such as the Live Bream Shoot Out competition presented by Paul Burt, as well as the return of favourites like our ladies’ High Tea on the High Seas Cruise, we are confident SCIBS will be a memorable and exciting four days for all as we join in celebrating the very essence of our wonderful marine lifestyle.”
The program also includes an Introduction to Sailing workshop presented by Sunshine Sailing Australia on Thursday, May 19, providing insights for those wishing to navigate their own way on the water, as well as the Discover Your Style Onboard workshop series, with sessions held daily by Boatstyle Yacht Interiors sharing interior decorating tips.
Lovers of the gourmet lifestyle will not want to venture far from The Boatyard’s stage, which will host live cooking demonstrations by Channel 7 personality Paul Burt twice daily, with daily live fishing demonstrations and expert tips on how to make that catch of the day.
Bringing their initiative Boating for the Future to the show, the Sea World Research and Rescue team will hold daily presentations to educate and inform visitors about safe boating and ways to protect and conserve the environment.
Fishing and boating TV guru Paul Burt will also head up the inaugural 2016 SCIBS Live Bream Shoot Out held on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22.

The tournament will see teams of two head out at 6am in their own boats, with entrants to return and contest their best catch, which will be weighed and held in the Shimano Super Tank to be admired by Show crowds.
The winning team will take the $3,000 prize pool on Sunday and the fish then released.
In 2016, SCIBS will welcome new additions including themed precincts The Boatyard – a dedicated space for sports, ski boats and trailerable crafts– and Supercar Street, which will feature a spectacular automotive display.
The Superyacht & Marine Pavilion will also relocate alongside the Main Pavilion, encouraging foot traffic through an engaging display of Australian-made products, global service providers and the latest gear and gadgets.
