The fleet will sail in Istanbul - the natural strait that separates the European continent from Asia, divides the seventh biggest city on the planet, and whose shores are lined with historic, landmark architecture. The regatta expects around one million viewers to watch the live feed on Saturday May 28.
The event has attracted up to 80 yachts from six metres to 27 metres in length, racing under IRC and participants from various countries including Turkey, France, Bulgaria, Greece, Russia and Italy will be competing for a silver perpetual trophy created by Can Yalman along with the honour of championship. Previous participants including ISAF Rolex World Sailor, Mike Sanderson and Lionel Pean will also return to the race this year.
The record-breaking Hydros Foundation catamaran is invited to promote energy efficiency and innovation, and sailing at top speeds through the Bosphorus with the logo of Turkcell’s 4.5G, the fastest mobile internet experience on LTE.
