Wicky Sundram Recognised As Certified Marina Professional

Thailand-based Wicky Sundram was awarded with Certified Marina Professional (CMP) status by the Global Marina Institute (GMI). Sundram joins the ranks of six other CMPs across the Asia-Pacific region.

Sundram is currently the Executive Director of Operations at Phuket Boat Lagoon. He has spent the last 18 years in the recreational boating industry. Passionate about developing and promoting marina, marine and yachting related activities in SE Asia, he has been actively involved with the development of sailing activities in Malaysia including the annual Royal Langkawi International Regatta. He played a leading role in developing an international standard marina at Langkawi. Prior to time in the marine industry, he worked in an international franchise restaurant and club management.

“As Asia develops its boating infrastructure, it is vital that there is corresponding development of the personnel or human capital to ensure the sustainability of the industry,” says GMI Chairman Mick Bettesworth. “Sundram has already demonstrated an excellent industry leadership in the region. Awarding him with CMP status will further assist the growth of the marine and marina industries across SE Asia as well as bestow on Sundram a thoroughly deserved and globally recognised industry certification.”
Sundram will be presented with his CMP by Marina Industries Association (MIA) President Andrew Chapman at the Intermediate Marina Management Course is being held in Phuket, Thailand July 25-28. The four-day course is being delivered by GMI partner, the MIA, and includes lectures by leading regional Certified Marina Managers from Thailand, Singapore and Australia. The 16 course participants are from marinas in Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and India.
