In the past year, the Group has expanded the number of marinas under its ONE15 brand from one to four. Besides these two new contracts, it also manages the ONE15 Brooklyn Marina in New York, USA, and owns and operates the award winning ONE15 Marina at Sentosa Cove, Singapore, which opened in June 2016 and September 2007 respectively.
In addition, the Group had in February 2016 signed an agreement with UEM Sunrise Berhad to form a joint venture for the purpose of developing the existing marinas in Puteri Harbour of Iskandar Puteri in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor comprising a private marina, a mega yacht marina and a public marina. All three marinas are also expected to carry the ONE15 brand.
“When we announced our intention to transform the Group by going into the marina-related business, we had already set ourselves the goal of making ONE15 a global brand that is synonymous with world-class marinas that are well-managed and operated,” says SUTL Enterprise Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Arthur Tay. “I am very pleased with the progress we have made in the past year because it shows that our business partners recognise the value that our brand and expertise brings to their waterfront property. We are positive about the prospects of the industry because of the rising demand for the waterfront lifestyle and in this regard, SUTL Enterprise is actively exploring the region and beyond for suitable opportunities to expand our network of ONE15 branded marinas.”
For the two new projects in Jakarta and Guishan, SUTL Enterprise will be providing pre-opening management and consultancy services, and continue to manage both clubs upon opening. The Group will be involved in the design of the marinas, marketing and sales, and management and operation of the marinas and their facilities.
The master plans for both projects comprise an integrated waterfront lifestyle development that will include not only a marina and clubhouse but also hotels, food and beverage (“F&B”) options as well as retail shops and other recreational activities.
“The proximity of ONE15 Pantai Mutiara to ONE15 Marina Sentosa Cove and the Puteri Harbour project will create natural operational and management synergies as well as benefits for members of ONE15 clubs,” adds Tay. “In Asia alone, we have identified many locations that are ideal for waterfront projects. It is our passion to see many more marinas being built in the region not only to cater to the rising number of wealthy individuals here, but also to attract yacht Owners from Europe and the Americas and create a buzzing yachting community.”
Planned developments at ONE15 Marina Guishan, which sits on 58,123 sqm of land, include: Marina with 116-berths, with the capacity to accommodate yachts up to 36m; Boutique hotel with 156-rooms with amenities such as a spa and gymnasium; Membership clubhouse with a wide range of F&B options ranging from cocktail bars and coffee shops to Chinese restaurants; Construction will begin in October 2016 with the first phase expected to be completed in 15 months and all phases to be finished in 40 months.
At ONE15 Pantai Mutiara Marina, which sits on 1,362sqm of land, the plans include: Private marina and international yacht club with approximately 180 wet berths; Clubhouse with F&B and recreational amenities; Hotel accommodation, lifestyle stores, spas and fitness centre.
Development of the marina has already commenced and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2017.
