The Barracuda Tour, an annual no-kill fishing competition organised by Beneteau gathered more than 2,500 participants from all over the world. The developers in Beneteau observed the behaviour and knew more about the expectations of sport fishers so they can adapt the Barracuda line to meet people’s needs. The new Barracuda 7 will come with a rethought towable hull, a new fishing station and a more spacious pilothouse that can open completely.
The new model is built on the latest hull suited for outboard motorboats less than 9 metres in length. Safety can be enabled for she is quick to plane and stable to drive. Powered by an electronically controlled engine between 150 and 200hp, the yacht can reach a top speed of 40 knots and provide a convenient way to the fishing spots. Her 200-litre tank also gives her great autonomy.
Compared to the older version, the model possessed larger reorganised spaces. The straight fully glazed pilothouse comes with a larger helm station. The two side doors can open onto the port and starboard walkways, facilitating movement on board. Independent from the pilothouse with an entrance below the co-pilot’s seat is a huge stowage space that can be converted into a double berth, where the heads are also located.
There are two versions of the interior. Designed to simplify movement and fishing manoeuvres as much as possible, the three-door version has a pilothouse with a three-leaf sliding glass door so that it communicates with the cockpit. The interior of the pilothouse on the two-door version is designed for up to five people. The light oak woodwork and durable carbon grey upholstery gives the interior a pleasant modern atmosphere.
Inspired by the layout of its predecessor, the Barracuda 8, a removable seat aft of the cockpit makes the fishing station modular. In a fishing configuration, this open space offers a pleasant seat to relax on, in addition to the two side benches and sliding bench. With a live-bait well, live catches can be preserved in ideal conditions. Equipped with the Lowrance electronic pack with a 7” or 9” HDS screen, the Barracuda 7 delivers improved fishing accuracy and efficiency.
Each of the two versions is available in three Barracuda Tour fishing, Cruising and Essential finishes. Through a combination of 30 or more options, these special editions offer customisations and adaptations, uniting all the ingredients to match the Barracuda 7’s programme. In addition to fishing accessories, the Barracuda 7 can also be fitted with a bow drive, an electric windlass and many other options.
After showing its face in Germany, Barracuda 7 will go to European Saltwater Fishing Show in Nantes Mar 3-5 and the 2017 Barracuda Tour in Le Crouesty, France May 12-21.
