PIMEX receives 3,000 visitors over first two days

The 14th edition of Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX) presented by Thailand Elite wrapped up successfully at the Royal Phuket Marina, receiving around 3,000 visitors for the first two days, despite the undesirable weather conditions.
“It was very much a PIMEX of two halves this year,” says Show Organiser Andaman Marine Consultants Managing Director Andy Dowden. “The first two days were exceptional. Visitor traffic was higher than in any of the past 13 editions and exhibitor feedback was excellent. We welcomed close to 3,000 audited visitors over the first two days and despite the heavy rain on the last two days brokers were still hosting qualified visitors on tours, and exhibitors in the Hall were transacting business.
“In addition to the excellent exhibitor feedback, it was encouraging to see the large number of international visitors – approximately 50% of the total. This is the reason we host the show during the island's peak season, when most wealthy visitors come to Phuket, as these are a key target market for the majority of our exhibitors.”
The show displayed 40 boats, ranging from small day boats to large luxurious powerboats, on water including the models from international brands. The highlight for this edition is the 20% total growth of the number of sailing yachts showcased at the event.
There were 100 businesses exhibited, showing impressive yachts, marine products, ancillary services, luxury properties, super bikes and more. Mariners’ Market is a new addition this year.
“One of our goals has always been to ensure that the show provides a sales and marketing platform for everyone, and after discussing with many in the industry we launched the first Mariner's Market with 10 trailer boats including everything from entry-level RIBs and small day boats, upto some very high-end RIBs and superyacht tenders,” adds Dowden.
PIMEX acted as a sales and marketing platform the marine and lifestyle industries, as well as a networking opportunity for trade and HNWI consumers through a series of social events during the show, the highlight of which was an exclusive cocktail party hosted by Thailand Elite which brought together many international guests, VIPs and card-holders who enjoyed an evening of fine wines and curated canapés.
The 15th edition will return to Royal Phuket Marina from Jan 5 to 8 2018.
