Benetti announced its new commitment to Asia as it returns to Singapore Yacht Show (April 6-9) for the third time. The team included the global CEO Vincenzo Poerio, who has been with Benetti for over 24 years, CCO Fabio Ermetto and design partner Omega Architects Founder Frank Laupman.

Poerio said: “With the fast emergence of new wealth in Asia, luxury boating is starting to gain interest. I wanted to bring my senior team to this year’s show to better anticipate the demands of Asian clients who want to become yacht owners.
“We take great pride in personal service and delivering exactly what a client envisions at Benetti, as we have been able to do for our 145-year long history. We are now ready to do this in Asia.”
The quintuple-deck 65m superyacht Ambrosia was on display at the show, complete with helipad, Jacuzzi, cinema, multiple dining areas, a spiral staircase, piano bar and six fitted cabins with Italian interiors with an oriental influence.
The owner, an enthusiastic technophile, worked closely with the Benetti design team to make it one of Benetti’s most technologically advanced megayachts at the time. Ambrosia was the world’s first superyacht installed with ABB’s Azipod, marking the technical breakthrough in the yachting sector. Ambrosia’s diesel-electric propulsion technology (DEP) diminished the vibration sensation underfoot whilst sailing.
The Singapore Yacht Show also debuted Benetti’s latest range of superyachts built to an increasing need for speed – Benetti Now and Benetti Now FAST. The Now models are the world’s first pre-designed superyachts in lengths that are often custom built, slashing the construction time by half without compromising on quality.
Built from custom steel and aluminium, the exteriors are customisable, with a choice between a closed sundeck and raised pilothouse with an optional helipad – recognising the new tastes of Asian yacht owner.
The Benetti Now range is created in collaboration with architect Stefano Natucci and British Design Studio Redman Whiteley Dixon, ensuring owners fully customisable, haute couture yachts, in just one year from start to finish.
Combining exterior design by Omega Architects, naval design by Mulder, and interiors by Enrico Gobbi, the fast-displacement hulls in the Benetti Now FAST range that give these yachts their name makes them 30 per cent faster while the design collaboration between the two Dutch giants pushes these superyachts to new heights.
The shipyard is currently working on 38 projects covering all of its three major product lines, namely Class, Custom and Giga from 30 to over 100 metres. In addition to a fleet of 16 yachts in Asia, Benetti has just announced that it has been commissioned by the Tokyo metropolitan government to build a 35m custom-built motor yacht.
Benetti is in the midst of developing and cultivating its presence in Asia including a strong sales and agent network and a dedicated, local 24/7 after sales team for owners.
Poerio added: “As the largest privately owned megayacht shipyard in the world through the Azimut Benetti Group, with our heritage and our unparalleled production facilities to build yachts from 30m to over 100m, we are well positioned to offer our full range of yachts, along with our dedicated client service, to Asian owners.
“We are confident that by coming to the Singapore Yacht Show and receiving such warm reception that we have given a taste of the Benetti lifestyle to Asia. I will certainly be back next year”.
Benetti established its Hong Kong office in 2010, covering the whole of Asia Pacific. With over seven years in the region, Benetti has been widely recognised and awarded in Asia. The most recent achievements include Benetti Domani, which was named the Best Custom Built Yacht 2017 at Asia Boating Awards by Asia Pacific Boating during the Singapore Yacht Show and Benetti 11.11 winning the Best Yacht Over 195 Feet by Robb Report China.
