Riva has presented the new 56’ Rivale, which sailed through a wall of mirrors built on the waters of Iseo Lake, on June 10 at its Sarnico shipyard at an event – Reflection, which also features the launch of Abarth’s special limited edition supercar 695 Rivale, inspired by the lines, colours and style of the 56’ Rivale.

A group of selected 300 international guests enjoyed the gala dinner by Michelin chef Massimo Bottura. The Gritti Palace in Venice, part of the Starwood Group and the only luxury hotel with a Riva Lounge, also participated in the occasion.
Italian artist Mimmo Paladino realised for Riva a masterpiece called Angelo di Prua, painting on the mahogany wood with maple inlays of the iconic Aquariva bow. The shipyard hosted other works of art by the artist, all in Transavangarde style made between the 80s and the half of the 90s.
Alberto Galassi, CEO of the Ferretti Group, said: “We lived a memorable day: the introduction of the new 56’ Rivale in Sarnico, where everything started and where every debut becomes unforgettable. This fantastic and charming open yacht, powerful and technological, has the privilege to glide on 175 years in the history of Riva.
“It inherits his name from its predecessor, even being completely new in its hull, lines, engines and technological solutions. This is because, as for every iconic product that made the brand’s history, the name remains in its progressive evolution. The new 56’ Rivale is a masterpiece with no rival.
“The celebrations for the 175th anniversary of Riva are being complemented by the unique partnership with an evoking brand such as Abarth. Presenting the 56’ Rivale, an iconic name in the history of Riva which today identifies the new open – a charming, technological and powerful boat – means paying homage to our past while looking firmly into the future.
“Abarth was inspired by the extraordinary new Riva boat in designing its new special and limited edition model: the magnificent 695 'Rivale'. The partnership springs from common shared values, passion for excellence and research for performance, expressed as always with an unmistakably unique style."
Abarth 695 Rivale features hand-crafted details including the blue and black hand-stitched leather seats with a logo on the headrest, the carbon dashboard silk screen printed with the logo, the special numbered plate inside and the badge on the outside of the pillar. Powered with 180hp engines with 250nm of torque, it can reach a top speed of 225km/h.
The new 56-foot Riva yacht is the product of the joint efforts of Officina Italiana Design, the Ferretti Group's Product Strategy Committee and the Engineering Department.
The vessel highlights her large glazed windows along the full with flush portholes as well as the shark grey shade and steel and teach details in bright black of the hull. The windshield of the cockpit also represents the aerodynamic profile of the 56’ Rivale. The yacht shares a motif – a thin aquamarine-coloured line with the shipyard’s other coupe models.
The garage at the stern, protected by a hatch in double shell carbon fibre, can house a Williams 325 tender. During underwater movement of the swimming platform, the steps on the left will be partially submerged, revealing additional steps in the hull. This provides a relatively more convenient way to get into the water and back on board without using the steel ladder, which is also available.
Underneath the roll bar, which acts as a supporting structure for the antennas of the electronic apparatus, the main deck lounge features a spacious, forward-facing sitting area completed with L-shaped sofa and teak dining table on the left.
Below deck is a lounge-dinette, where mirrored surfaces alternate with varnished mahogany, dark lacquered woods and dark leather coverings.
The sleeping area features two en-suite cabins in which one can admire the same interplay of colours and materials found in the lounge, in addition to the striking contrast between the white leather covering of the headboard and border and the dark leather on the tops of the bedside tables and bases of the beds.
On this first 56’ Rivale, the soft furnishings are designed and supplied by Ivano Redaelli and Van Besouw. The master suite has the head on the left side, while the VIP cabin situated in the forward area features many storage compartments and a starboard side head.
The heads décor consists of different woods, light and dark lacquered surfaces, mirrored surfaces and white Corian. The crew cabin has a single bed with bathroom with separate access from a hatch in the cockpit, concealed by the dormeuse. It can be replaced by a third guest cabin.
The new open model is fitted with twin 1,000HP MAN engines, or with twin 1,200HP MAN engines. In both cases, the propulsion system is V-Drive. With the standard engines, the 56’ Rivale can reach a cruising speed of 31 knots and a maximum speed of 35 knots. With the more powerful engines, performance increases to a cruising speed of 34 knots and a maximum speed of 38 knots respectively (preliminary data).
