Breguet promotes Race for Water and Marine collection

In celebration of Breguet’s newly launched Marine Collection and its connection with the oceans, the French watchmaker set up an exclusive exhibition this past weekend at the Macau Yacht Show (November 1-4) to promote its partnership with the Race for Water Foundation and the Odyssey 2017-2021. A scale-model of the Odyssey’s vessel, multi-media informational panels, and several pieces from Breguet’s Marine Collection were on display.
The Odyssey 2017-2021 is Race for Water Foundation’s second mission around the world to raise awareness about the importance of ocean protection and effective waste management. The five-year mission is being carried out in a unique catamaran that is powered entirely by clean and renewable resources - the sun, wind, and the ocean - and will promote innovative solutions to transform plastic waste into energy resources.
The Breguet Marine “Race for Water” Special Edition watches are currently accompanying the voyage on the wrists of the explorers, equipped with accurate chronometers that were set in the heart of the vessels and serve to calculate longitude at sea. The Marine 5517 timepiece is set in a light titanium case with a custom blue dial that features the Race for Water vessel in a clous de Paris motif. Breguet is committed to supporting this Odyssey, the forefront of modern oceanic scientific research, through to its completion in 2021.
Breguet also organised a demonstration of coordinated surfers in Breguet uniforms showing off their jet-surfing skills, with equipment provided by Hong Kong’s NextWave Yachting. The performance took place in Macau’s outer harbour to wharfside spectators and members of the media, who enjoyed the display from the deck and flybridge of Absolute’s luxury Navetta 58.
The newly launched Marine collection was displayed at the Breguet Boutique in the Galaxy Macau, including the aforementioned Marine 5517 Special Edition, the Marine 5517, the Marine Chronographe 5527, the Marine Alarme Musicale 5547, and the Marine Equation Marchante 5887.
About Race for Water
The Race for Water Foundation is an organization dedicated to water preservation and the ocean in particular. This indispensable resource is under massive threat from plastic pollution. The Foundation aims to identify, promote and implement solutions that will give end-of-life plastic a value and create new sources of income for the people most affected by pollution. Inspired by the principles of a circular economy and social entrepreneurship, Race for Water Foundation seeks to prevent plastic litter from reaching waterways and leaking down to the ocean.
Sea exploration has been inspiring Breguet since the watchmaker was appointed the official chronometer-maker to the French Royal Navy in 1815. The king bestowed upon Breguet’s founder the most prestigious title in recognition of his mastery, and that led to extraordinary inventions at the service of the fascinating world of marine navigation. The contemporary Marine collection resonates with history while being designed for the modern world.
