Frauscher upgrades the 740 Mirage Air

Four years after the market launch of the Frauscher 740 Mirage Air, Frauscher Shipyard presents an upgrade of its electric flagship with impressive maximised engine performance at the Electric Days show at Lake Starnberg, Germany. The substantial boost in performance and efficiency is made possible by the use of a Torqeedo Deep Blue 100i drive system.
Elegant, sporty and fast, the Frauscher 740 Mirage Air has delighted electric yacht fans around the world for years. Designed as a day cruiser, the yacht cuts a good figure not only during pleasurable excursions on the bay, but also when speeding through the waves. More than ever this is due to the use of a high-performance Deep Blue engine from Germany’s market leader for electric mobility on the water: Torqeedo.
The newly developed drive system with continuous power of 100 kW now enables the 740 Mirage Air to achieve maximum speeds of up to 50 km/h. The Deep Blue technology used in the yacht is the world’s only mass-produced high-voltage electric drive system for boats, with a safety concept that is proven to comply with the high standards of the automotive sector. The manufacturer offers not only a 9-year capacity guarantee, but also remote maintenance services on the basis of state-of-the-art software solutions.
Michael Frauscher, member of the shipyard’s management who is responsible for production and development, explains: "As Engineers of Emotions we always want the owners of our boats to have a great time on the water. That is why we are uncompromising in using only the best components in our boats and include strong partners such as Torqeedo in our development processes. With the powerful 100 kW drive system we are entering an entirely new dimension of electric mobility on the water."
The use of state-of-the-art battery technologies from the automotive sector not only makes the yacht more powerful than ever, but also more efficient. Two highly innovative batteries from the BMW i3, each with a capacity of 40 kWh, enable distances of up to 36 km at full speed, and a range of more than 100 km is even possible at moderate speeds. The systems are charged at a capacity of 3.3 kW per hour with the standard Marina power of 230V, or 9.9 kW per hour using the optional quick-charge with 400V.
While the 740 Mirage Air contains many innovations, the design of the electric yacht remains unchanged. The "Air" model of the yacht from Frauscher Shipyard features optimised use of the space on board, which is made possible by a free-standing centre helm. Compared to the closed bow Frauscher 740 Mirage, the yacht – with a length of 7.47m – offers plenty of space for lying or sitting in the sun, in addition to stowing accessories for an unforgettable day on the water.
Fully equipped with a JL Audio sound system, a bow thruster, an electric anchor winch with a stainless steel chain and anchor, a refrigerated drawer, ambient lighting and a luxurious teak deck, the 740 Mirage Air offers much more luxury and comfort than other fast electric yachts.
The Torqeedo Deep Blue 100i System with 100 kW continuous power and 80 kWh battery capacity is immediately available in the Frauscher 740 Mirage and 740 Mirage Air. The Torqeedo Deep Blue 50i System with 50 kW continuous power and 40 kWh battery capacity is still available in the Frauscher 650 Alassio, 680 Lido, 740 Mirage and 740 Mirage Air.
Driven by the Deep Blue engine, the Frauscher 740 Mirage Air – compared to yachts powered by diesel or petrol engines – is completely pollution-free and therefore also approved for use in many sensitive waters.
