This year the 6th China (Shenzhen) International Boat Show (SIBEX2012) will be held at the Shenzhen Marina Club in Dameisha from October 18-22. As of early August organisers have already announced that the 105 berths have all been sold out; only on-land space is still available to potential exhibitors.

“As one of the most popular yacht marinas in China, we estimate the club could welcome 120 boats and 142 exhibitors in October,” says David Shan, chief executive of the SIBEX organising committee.

After the remarkable success of last year’s boat show, which saw a record turnover of 100 million yuan, a slew of international boating giants will be in attendance, including Azimut, Sunseeker, Ferretti, Riva, Benetau, Jeanneau and Princess Yachts. Joining them will be well-known local boat builders such as Sunbird, Heysea and Seastella. Sales agents Simpson and Shenzhen Speedo will both have seven boats on display, while Shenzhen Omnia has promised to bring six boats to the show.

Although local boat builder IAG will be showcasing its 2012 flagship product – the 100ft Electra 100 – organisers had to turn away many more super yachts, including a 112ft Ferretti, a 100ft Accelera and Sunbird’s giant catamaran. Following its global launch in May at the Hong Kong Gold Coast Boat Show, the world’s first fully carbon fibre yacht – courtesy of Sweden Delta Power Boats – will be making its debut in mainland China.
