Wuxi Dong Fang High Speed Craft (DFC), one of the biggest Chinese companies that design and construct patrol boats, work boats and commercial boats for the tourism industry, officially begins a new collaboration with the yacht design studio CHRISTIAN GRANDE DesignWorks, one of the most innovative professionals in the yacht design industry.

In the last ten years, Chinese investors have begun to understand that it would be better to build quality yachts in China instead of continuing to import Italian boats and accessories.

Christian Grande is an award-winning yacht designer, highly experienced in yacht and industrial design production.

DFC was set up in 1985 by the China Ship Scientific Research Center, one of the Chinese companies that studies and builds boats in fiberglass composite, with a history of more than 60 years. The company is primarily engaged in research and consultation for naval hydrodynamic performance, propulsion, high performance ships, underwater engineering, vibration and noise reduction, underwater structures, marine and offshore structures, as well as information technology.

DFC’s development plans are ambitious, and include the production of new 30' to 60' yachts between 2014 and 2016 in fiberglass, and a new J-boat and business boat beginning in 2017. The China Ship Scientific Research Centre (CSSRC) plans to set up a new manufacturing plant located on the Yangtze River in 2017, for a total area of 130,000 sqm, in order to build the new J-boats, which cannot be transported from the present facilities.

Feng Lei Li, DFC General Manager, refers to the company's motivation in choosing Christian Grande as its main yacht designer, “Italy is a cutting-edge country in the world yacht industry, with abundant experience in design and manufacturing technology…DFC and CSSRC have their own design teams and would like to cooperate with Christian Grande to expand the Chinese yacht design business. Christian Grande’s China branch can be set up in Wuxi or Shanghai, or a cooperative design company can be formed. DFC expects to establish a long-term and multi-aspect cooperation of mutual benefit with Christian Grande.”
