Following the passing of the respected broker Richard Earp this year, Fraser Yachts paid tribute to him by setting up an award in his honour. Earp was renowned for his gentlemanly conduct, fair negotiations and valuable attributes, which should be encouraged in this growing and competitive industry.

The Richard Earp Award will be open to nominees from the yacht brokerage industry, who will be judged on several attributes that were strongly associated with Earp’s personality and work ethic: transparency, fair and ethical behaviour, charisma and style. Nominees should also be well respected within the industry, have longevity as a broker and still be active in the market today.

A group of judges from across the industry will review all the nominations and discuss who excels in these criteria the most. The judges include Large Yacht Brokers Association (LYBRA) Secretary General Eric Blair, MYBA President Fiona Maureso, Yacht Designer Espen Oeino, Holman Fenwick Willan Lawyer Jay Tooker, Lürssen Sales Director Michael Bremen and Ports of Monaco CEO Gianbattista Borea d’Olmo. The group will be chaired by Fraser Yachts Chairman Roberto Giorgi. All of the judging panel knew Earp well and respected him for his values.

“Richard was such a well respected and admired broker that we wanted to find a way to honour his memory and ensure that his attributes are encouraged throughout the industry. As well as being one of the fairest yacht brokers to work with, he also had a great sense of humour and charisma that was noticed by everyone he met,” says Giorgi.

Nominations can be sent to with the name of the broker, a short paragraph describing the reasons for their nomination and a brief bio, plus any other supporting evidence by Sept 9. Brokers cannot nominate themselves.

The award will be announced and presented at Monaco Yacht Show this year.
